Caring for Someone with Dementia Workshop

Caring for Someone with Dementia workshops are offered quarterly to support respite volunteers, family caregivers, and professionals.  The workshop explores behavioral changes common in people challenged by memory impairment, whether from Alzheimer’s, stroke, Parkinson’s, FTD or other disorders, and reviews tips to enhance communication and accentuate the strengths still within the person with dementia.  To register for the workshop, please review the training schedule and email caregiving@ctrvolcare.org.  Or you may call The Center at 919.460.0567.

Assessor Training

Before being matched, a Volunteer Assessor makes home visits to potential Care Receivers, obtaining detailed information about the Care Receiver, their needs and the home environment which will be helpful to the volunteer in working with this person.   Typically Assessors have experience as a Center Volunteer and/or a background in nursing or social work.   If you are interested in this important role, please contact The Center at 919.460.0567 or caregiving@ctrvolcare.org.
