Volunteer
When you volunteer for the Center, we take the necessary time to match you with a care-receiver who has a similar interests. We also work with you to create a schedule that is most convenient for you. This extra attention to the matching process has resulted in many long-term caregiver and care-receiver relationships.
Who you help
As a volunteer, you will help adults in Wake County who need a little assistance to stay in their home, including:
- Seniors
- Adults with chronic illness
- Adults with visual impairment
- Adults with memory impairment
- Adults with developmental disabilities
Services we offer
We offer a variety of services, and we need more volunteers for all of them.
- Transportation
- Alzheimer's Respite Care
- Friendly Visiting or Telephone Assurance
- Occasional Meal Preparation
- Light Housekeeping
- Yard Work and Minor Home Repairs
For a full description of these services, please read our Services page.
Volunteer training
Attending a Volunteer Orientation is the first step to volunteering with The Center for Volunteer Caregiving. View our training schedule »
The trainings are held at The Center and various locations, and some are hosted by our faith partners. Training will include information about community resources, aging issues, and a general overview of the programs and services that The Center provides.
While attending an orientation session is not a commitment to volunteer, it does allow potential volunteers to see how they can become involved and how the system works.
Please contact the Center for Volunteer Caregiving for more information at 460-0567 or by email caregiving@ctrvolcare.org.
